Services set Monday for Mrs. Eva Hoagland
Eva Hoagland, 84 of 322 South Chester Ave., a leader for years in city and county service organizations, died unexpectedly Thursday.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in the Payne and Sons Funeral Home with Dr. J. Wesley Farr of the First Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the family plot in the Garden of Roses section of Union Cemetery.
Mrs. Hoagland, widow of Arthur E. Hoagland, pioneer rancer of the Edison district, was born Oct. 24, 1879, in MacPherson County, Kan., where she spent her early years. She came to Bakersfield in December 1901.
She was an active member of the Magunden Farm Bureau during her early years in Bakersfield; was a past president of the DeMolay Mothers Club of the Edison district, long-time member of the Bakersfield Woman's Club, a charter member of the Casma Club and a Red Cross worker during World War II. She was active in the Ladies Build of St. Paul's Episcopal Parish in earlier years.

Hoagland, Maude Evelyn – funeral services will be held in Payne & Sons Chapel Monday at 10 a.m. for Maude Evelyn Hoagland, 84, of 322 South Chester Ave. who died March 3 in a Bakersfield hospital. Rev. J. Wesley Farr, pastor of the First Methodist Church, will officiate and interment will be in Union Cemetery. Mrs. Hoagland was a native of Kansas and had lived in Kern County for 62 years. She was a past president of the DeMolay Mothers Club and had been a long-time member of the Bakersfield Womans Club. Survivors include three sons, Arthur and Kenneth of Bakersfield and Eugene of Avenal; two daughters, Helen Little of Van Nuys and Evelyn Dennis of Portland, Ore.; a brother, Alfred Raner of Facoma, Wash, 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbears will be Louis J. benzino, Ralph R. Pitney, Olon B. Bryan, Robert A. Farrell, Leo Pierucci, John Loustalot, J. Perry Brite and Douglas Abralims, Payne & Sons Funeral Home.
